Nearly every adult is concerned with maintaining good heart health. According to the American Heart Association, Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death, and one in three adults will die from CVD. Cholesterol reduction is considered a primary target to reduce the risk for coronary heart disease.

A wide selection of pharmaceuticals are available to reach this goal, the most popular being statins. There is a growing awareness of possible negative side effects of pharmaceuticals, and of statins in particular. Therefore, the public is shifting towards more natural approaches to reduce cholesterol.

Bios Life Complete is the only fiber and nutrient drink that combines all four of the known natural approaches to lowering harmful cholesterol. This patented approach:

1. Helps to block re-absorption of cholesterol in the intestinal tract
2. Helps to block absorption of cholesterol which comes directly from food after digestion
3. Reduces the cholesterol produced by the liver
4. Enhances enzymatic breakdown and removal of LDL (bad) cholesterol

In a recent study, Bios Life Complete was proven to lower LDL cholesterol for participants with high LDL levels by 31%. Overall reductions, including participants with fair or better LDL levels averaged over 20%. Additionally, the average increase of HDL or “good” cholesterol in those participants with low HDL levels was 29%. Average increase, including those with normal HDL levels, was 25%.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Clinically proven to lower LDL cholesterol, while increasing HDL cholesterol, Bios Life Complete is quickly becoming the standard in the fight against harmful cholesterol levels.
Often, over a period of time, people taking statins discover that their cholesterol remains at a level higher than they (and their doctors) were hoping to reach. Hope is now available. Recent clinical studies have shown that when taking statins in combination with Bios Life Complete, the “statin floor” is broken and cholesterol levels are reduced by an additional 20%. Talk to your doctor about Bios Life Complete before use if you are taking any cholesterol-lowering medication.

Features and benefits of Bios Life Complete:
• Proven to reduce LDL cholesterol levels
• Proven to increase HDL cholesterol levels
• Helps manage appetite naturally

Foods containing at least .65 grams per day of plant sterol esters, eaten twice a day with meals for a total daily intake of 1.3 grams may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of Bios Life? Complete contains 0.67 grams of plant sterols.

Research Brief
Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body’s cells. It’s normal to have cholesterol, and cholesterol is an important part of a healthy body because it’s used to build new cells, insulate nerves, and produce hormones.
One type of cholesterol is low-density lipoprotein or LDL. High levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association states that when too much LDL cholesterol circulates in the blood, it can slowly build up in the inner walls of the arteries that feed the heart and brain. LDL cholesterol can form plaque, a thick, hard deposit that can clog those arteries.
The other type of cholesterol is high-density lipoprotein or HDL. Your body makes HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) for your protection. Studies show that high levels of HDL cholesterol reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
Bios Life Complete works effectively to decrease the level of LDL cholesterol while increasing the level of HDL cholesterol through its patented, natural formula. Listed below are the active ingredients responsible for Bios Life Complete’s effectiveness:

Soluble and Insoluble Fibers
Fibers, in particular of the soluble kind, are well known to reduce LDL-c. [1-16] The American Heart Association therefore advises to include 25 –30 grams of fiber daily in the diet. The mechanism of cholesterol reduction by fiber is through bile-acid sequestration. Typically, fiber is mixed with water, and consumed just before a meal. The gel matrix formed in the digestive tract absorbs bile acids, so that cholesterol re-absorption in the blood is inhibited. The cholesterol reducing effect of fibers has been documented extensively in the literature. The sponsor of this study, Unicity International, has marketed a patented fiber drink (BiosLife 2) that works through bile-acid sequestration.

Policosanol
This sugar cane extract is a poly-alcohol that has been shown to support healthy cholesterol levels through inhibition of HMG CoA reductase. [17-24]

Phytosterols
These phytonutrients have similar structures to cholesterol and therefore competitively inhibit the absorption of cholesterol from the diet. Studies have focused on pure phytosterol administration and mixed in margarines. Typical reductions in LDL-c are 5 to 15% over 4 week periods. [25-40]

chrysanthemum morifolium
This flower extract has been linked by internal research to enhancement of cholesterol metabolism.[41] The plant has been used for centuries in the Chinese culture as a tea.

Bios Life Complete is protected by U.S. Patents 6,933,291, 4,883,788, 4,824,672. U.S. and international patents pending.

FAQs
Q: How do I know if I have high cholesterol?
A: Your cholesterol levels are measured by a simple blood test. A small sample of your blood is analyzed to determine the total cholesterol level, the level of LDL cholesterol, the level of HDL cholesterol, the level of triglycerides, and the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol. Even if you don’t currently have a problem with cholesterol, Bios Life? Complete may help to prevent future problems.

Q: How much Fiber is in Bios Life? Complete?
A: The product combines 2.7 grams of soluble fiber with 0.3 grams of insoluble fiber. The product further contains vitamins and minerals, such as chromium. Upon consumption of three packets a day, the fiber amount fills the gap between actual dietary consumption of fiber and the advice of the American Heart Association.

Q: I noticed that Bios Life Complete is sweetened with Sucralose. What is Sucralose and is it safe?
A: Sucralose, a low-calorie sweetener, is the sweetening ingredient used worldwide in more than 4,000 food, beverage and nutritional products. The safety of sucralose has been confirmed by leading medical, scientific, and regulatory authorities around the world including; the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Joint (Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization) Expert Committee on Food Additives, European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Food, Health Canada, and Food Standards Australia/New Zealand. For more information about Sucralose visit, www.sucralose.org.

Q: Many pharmeuctial drugs produce potenially dangerous side effects. Are there any adverse side effects associated with Bios Life Complete?
A: Bios Life2? and Bios Life Complete have been clinically tested on numerous occasions. No adverse side effects were ever reported or measured in test participants.

RESEARCH BRIEF

Fish and fish oil receive increasing amounts of media attention as scientific evidence continues to provide information on their potential health benefits, the most notable being their ability to support normal heart function. In fact, the heart-health benefits of fish oil are so compelling, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that, "Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease."

In addition to its profound heart-health benefits, fish oil also plays a fundamental role in the development and maintenance of brain and nervous functions such as preservation of memory and mental clarity.*

In 2002 the FDA approved supplementation of DHA in infant formula. DHA is potentially important in fetal and infant neural development, in that DHA and arachidonic acid have been shown to be incorporated into brain and retinal cell membranes---particularly during the third trimester and early infant life. Clinical research also suggests that fish oil can help support proper brain function. Fish oil supports the eyes and helps maintain early development of vision.

SCIENCE

Fish oil contains essential fatty acids known as omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. The two main omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) have been shown to influence important biological functions.

DHA is the predominant structural fatty acid in the central nervous system and in the retina of the eyes. Thus, the availability of DHA is crucial for fetal and brain development and is also important for the maintenance of brain functions in adult life. DHA also helps to maintain brain fluidity and may help in the maintenance of cognitive functions. Some studies suggest that adequate DHA supports vision.*

EPA supports the synthesis of important compounds in the body. EPA is the precursor of thromboxane and leukotriene, compounds involved in supporting healthy circulation. They also promote healthy blood vessels.*

A. The U.S. National Institutes of Health recommends 650 mg of EPA and DHA per day. Individuals with a known risk of heart disease should take approximately 1000 mg per day. The American Heart Association recommends fish oil capsules for patients with severely high triglycerides. One serving of OmegaLife-3 contains 2000 mg of fish oil with 400 mg DHA and mg 800 EPA.

Note: It is also important to note that an increased adiposity (excess body fat) may reduce the blood level of these fatty acids. Thus, such individuals may need more fish oil, even without risk of heart diseases. Read and follow all instructions on the product label.

Q. How Can I Trust the Quality of Fish Oils?
A. The most concern people have is the risk of fish oil contamination with pollutants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins and heavy metals such as mercury.
These pollutants are genuinely hazardous to health; hence the government has set limits of their levels in foods and supplements, to ensure safety of the public. At Unicity, safety is our flagship and we will not consider buying fish oils that do not meet the specifications set by the government. Every fish oil batch used in our product is tested and must meet our stringent specifications.

Q. Is Unicity Fish Oil Different From The Competitor?
A. Yes, Unicity fish oil is better that the competitors' because:
. Our fish oil is molecularly distilled to ensure the highest purity oil
. While most competitors use 18/12 fish oil, Unicity uses the higher quality 40/20 oil to deliver more of the EFA in less soft gels. The higher the concentration of EPA & DHA, the more beneficial and costlier the product becomes.
. Our fish oil can be guaranteed fresh because we went the extra mile of adding vitamin E to preserve freshness and help protect the oils against oxidative rancidity
. Some people do not like the "fishy burp," which is one reason why some people do not take fish oil
. Our fish oils are routine tested to ensure that they are safe from pollutants
. You get more value for your money because of the higher percentage of the essential fatty acids in the oil. The higher the concentration of EPA & DHA, the more beneficial and costlier the product becomes.
. Fewer capsules are required to meet increased needs.

Q. I get my omega-3 fatty acids from flaxseed oil...do I need to take fish oil?
A. Flaxseed provides alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) which is an omega-3 fatty acid that can be converted to EPA and DHA through a series of metabolic processes. However, humans have a limited capability to efficiently process this conversion. EPA and DHA from fish oil are directly incorporated into neuronal membranes to enhance their integrity and support neuronal functions.

Q. Is There Any Risk Associated With Taking Fish Oils?
A. Fish oil may result in blood thinning, therefore may increase the risk of bleeding, easy bruising and nosebleeds in people who are on blood thinning medications. Fish oil should also be stopped before surgery. Speak to your doctor before use if you have a medical condition.

Q. What's the best way to get fish oil in my diet?
A. Studies have shown that many fish can contain high levels of mercury and other toxins from our polluted oceans. The health risks of these toxins can outweigh the potential benefits of omega-3 fish oil. Currently, it appears that the safest way to get omega-3s in your diet is from high quality, pharmaceutical grade fish oil supplements. The highest quality brands available today refine fish oil through a complex molecular distillation process to filter out any impurities.

Cardio Essentials
This powerful, proprietary formula supports healthy heart function, blood flow, and heart tissue.

Many nutritional supplements for the cardiovascular system contain the powerful substance coenzyme Q-10, which scientists have related to improved functioning of the heart. However, although studies demonstrate that coenzyme Q-10 is effective only at daily intakes of 100 mg, most supplements contain only small amounts. But not Unicity's Cardio Essentials; our supplement contains a full 100mg, in addition to efficacious amounts of other nutrients that support heart health, including L-carnitine, L-taurine, and hawthorn. Together, these nutrients support healthy heart function, blood flow, and heart rhythm and provide proper nourishment to heart muscle tissue.*

Unicity^(TM) has developed a nutritional supplement to support healthy heart muscle, blood flow, and heart rhythm. This formula is based on research about several cutting-edge ingredients.*

What's inside:
Like all body organs, heart health is profoundly affected by our diet. To maximize nutritional benefits to the cardiovascular system, Cardio Essentials contains several ingredients that represent scientific advances in heart health.* Coenzyme Q-10 is a fundamental antioxidant and bioenergetic compound occurring naturally in body cells. Some scientists believe that age causes this nutrient's levels in the body to decrease. Compared to other products on the market, Cardio Essentials contains a significantly higher level of this compound.*

L-carnitine, an important biological substance found in heart and skeletal muscle, has been shown to diminish in individuals with heart disorders.*

L-taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid made in the body from cysteine.* Hawthorn is an herb that has been used in Europe for centuries to support heart health. This supplement provides a standardized extract.*

What it will do for you:
Coenzyme Q-10 supports healthy heart function, blood flow, and heart rhythm and provides proper nourishment to heart muscle tissue. Its antioxidant properties help combat free radicals that damage body cells, and it operates in cell mitochondria as an electron carrier and stabilizes cell membranes. It plays a critical role in the energy production of the heart and other tissues.*

In the body, elevated fatty acid levels produce intermediate waste products that can harm heart muscle tissue.

L-carnitine plays a natural role in heart muscle tissue and helps support healthy heart cells. Furthermore, it may replenish free carnitine in the body, which is necessary for fat to be carried across the cell mitochondria to be used for energy by the heart.*

L-taurine is believed to play a role in the body's water balance.*

Hawthorn has been demonstrated to support healthy heart muscle tissue, blood flow, and antioxidant protection.

Research Brief
The heart beats 60 to 80 times per minute as it circulates blood throughout the body's cardiovascular system. Blood carries oxygen and other nutrients to all body cells, and it picks up wastes and transports them to the lungs or kidneys for elimination. The heart, which is about the size of two fists, has four hollow chambers: the left atrium, the right atrium, the left ventricle, and the right ventricle. After blood has traveled throughout the body delivering oxygen and gathering carbon dioxide waste, it flows into the heart's right atrium and moves through a valve into the right ventricle, which pumps it into the lungs for removal of carbon dioxide and recharging with oxygen. The blood then reenters the heart, moving through the left atrium through a valve into the left ventricle, which pumps the blood into the arteries for circulation throughout the body's 60,000 miles of blood vessels. The heart pumps about 2,100 gallons of blood per day, and a natural electrical system maintains its rhythm. Because heart muscles use so much energy, the heart itself needs considerable oxygen and nutrients, which are supplied by the coronary arteries.

Blood vessels are lined with a delicate layer of cells that are sensitive to particles and chemicals found in the bloodstream. With proper nutrients and exercise, blood vessel walls become stronger, more flexible, and more resistant to the cracks and lesions that can cause deposits to form. Like other body systems, the heart and vessels that make up the cardiovascular system are profoundly affected by diet and exercise habits. Several nutritional supplements have been found to improve cardiovascular health.*

FAQs
Q: How does Cardio Essentials compare with other brands in the quantity of nutrients it provides?
A: CoQ10 has performed well in clinical studies. Many people want to supplement their diets with it, and many companies are attempting to capitalize on that popularity by including CoQ10 in their products. However, most other supplements provide only a few milligrams of CoQ10, while Cardio Essentials contains a full 100mg in each dosage, which is the level at which CoQ10 has been shown to support heart and cardiovascular health.*

Q: Is it advisable to take Cardio Basics? with Cardio Essentials?
A: The two products have different formulations, so it should not cause any problem to take them together. Cardio Basics contains small amounts of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, and Cardio Essentials, a proprietary blend, contains specialty nutrients rich in two amino acids. Cardio Essentials boasts a total of 3.5 grams of L-carnitine, L-taurine, and hawthorn.*

Q: When should I take Cardio Essentials?
A: With a meal, because the key nutrient, CoQ10, is a fat-soluble nutrient, meaning that it is best digested in company with dietary fats.*

Q: Do the amino acids come from protein sources?
A: None of the ingredients come from animal products.

CoQ10 - Advanced Formula
Overview
Our heart muscles weaken with age. Can you imagine what would happen if the heart muscles had no more strength to contract? CoQ10 is critical in the production of energy (ATP) in the mitochondria (mitochondria are the cells' power sources). This advanced supplement increases energy in the cardiac muscle and provides antioxidant protection for the heart.

CoQ10 Advanced Formula provides essential nutrients that benefit the heart; it also combats oxidative damage as well as helps naturally sustain healthy levels of CoQ10 in people as they age

CoQ10 is a compound found naturally in the energy-producing centre of the cell known as the mitochondria. Scientists believe that CoQ10 is essential for generating 95 percent of the total energy required by the human body. It's the key to converting oxygen into energy.

Unicity's CoQ10 Advanced Formula is a high-potency formulation -- specifically designed to provide maximum CoQ10 absorption and bioavailability.

Absorption: The movement of CoQ10 into the bloodstream.
Bioavailability: The amount of CoQ10 available for use by cells.

In clinical studies, new CoQ10 Advanced Formula is 783% better absorbed than regular dry formula CoQ10 after 36 hours. What's more, CoQ10 Advanced Formula has been proven to be 454% more bioavailable than ordinary dry formula CoQ10 after just 28 days usage.

CoQ10 Advance Formula contains a proprietary blend of pure CoQ10 and three top-quality lipids -- essential ingredients that enable effective absorption, bioavailability, and prevent CoQ10 crystallization -- a major flaw in other brands of CoQ10.

In addition to the finest grade of CoQ10, Unicity's CoQ10 Advanced Formula also includes Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), flaxseed oil, and monoglyceride, a premium quality soy-based lipid specially integrated to prevent CoQ10 crystallization.

dis?til?la?tion  (dst-lshn)
n.
1. The evaporation and subsequent collection of a liquid by condensation as a means of purification: the distillation of water.
2. The extraction of the volatile components of a mixture by the condensation and collection of the vapors that are produced as the mixture is heated
A method of separating a substance that is in solution from its solvent or of separating a liquid from a mixture of liquids having different boiling points. The liquid to be separated is evaporated (as by boiling), and its vapor is then collected after it condenses. Distillation is used to separate fresh water from a salt solution and gasoline from petroleum.  The condensed vapor, which is the purified liquid, is called the distillate.
